![]() Melvin (Mel) Milton Miller, III August 21, 1948 - August 9, 2004 Born in Alice, Texas to Iona W. and M.M. Miller, Jr. Mel attended high school at Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tennessee. Upon graduation he attended Texas A&M University-College Station as a member of the Corps. He graduated in 1970 and served as a Captain in the Army Reserve 82nd Airborne Division. Mel was employed as a federal credit union examiner for several years in Houston, Texas, San Francisco, California and New Orleans, Louisiana before becoming a charter yacht owner. His charter business was based first in San Francisco, California and then moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. A lifetime member of MENSA and the BMW Club, Mel enjoyed National Public Radio and regularly volunteered for KEDT-TV and KEDT-Radio. He was an avid collector of old military vehicles and loved the adventure of traveling all over the United States to retrieve them. A good friend and co-worker, Mel worked as a Licensed Private Investigator with Shawver & Associates for seven years.
